5 Ways to Get Paid in USD in Ghana Without PayPal (2026)

-

If you’re a freelancer, creator, or remote worker in Ghana, accepting USD without a working PayPal account feels like a constant headache. The good news is that? You don’t need PayPal to receive payments from international clients in 2026. Today, I’m breaking down 5 Ways to Get Paid in USD in Ghana without PayPal.

But here’s the catch: these 5 options don’t work the same way. Some give you virtual US bank accounts, some let you accept international card payments, and others send cash directly to your MoMo wallet. And in this article, I’ll cover how each one works, the real exchange rates, and who each platform is best for.

Five Ways to Get Paid in USD in Ghana Without PayPal in 2026

1. Paystack

I personally use it for my own online business. Right off the bat, there’s a massive difference you need to understand: Paystack is not a USD receiving bank account for freelancers. It is an e-commerce payment gateway that helps business owners and creators accept money from customers worldwide.

Eligible Ghanaian businesses can accept international payments, including payments through Apple Pay, debit cards, and Mobile Money from supported international customers. If you sell digital products, agency services, or run an online store, international customers can pay you seamlessly in seconds without ever touching PayPal.

The interesting part is that Paystack doesn’t let you hold USD. For Ghanaian businesses, international payments are settled in Ghanaian cedis rather than leaving you with a USD balance. So if you’re selling digital products, agency services, or running an online store, Paystack can be a really useful way to accept international payments.

But if you’re a freelancer looking for a USD account to receive direct client payments, Paystack isn’t what you’re looking for

2. Payoneer.

Payoneer gives you actual US virtual receiving account details—including a US routing and account number and that means eligible companies and marketplaces can pay you through supported US payment methods without requiring you to give them a Ghanaian bank account.

I personally use Payoneer for payouts from platforms like uTest, which is also supported by major platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr.

    Why it’s a huge asset:

You have full control of your money, and that means you can keep your earnings inside Payoneer in USD, EUR, or GBP, and only withdraw to your local bank account or Mobile Money when you’re ready.

    Pro-tips before you sign up:

    • First, Payoneer isn’t a magic key for every website—each platform has its own payout rules.
    • Secondly, pay attention to cash-out fees. Bank transfers and currency conversions carry small variable percentage fees, so always check the preview rate before making large withdrawals.

If you’re earning consistently from client work, marketplaces, or remote platforms, Payoneer is an absolute essential in your toolkit.

    3. Grey

A platform built specifically for cross-border payments across Africa- fully supports Ghana. If you’re a freelancer working with direct clients in the US or Europe, this is one option I’d seriously consider. Grey provides you with dedicated foreign currency bank account details, including USD.

    Grey

So, for example, when an American client asks for your US banking details to send a bank transfer, you give them your Grey account details. They transfer local dollars, and it lands straight in your account.

The best part for Ghanaians? You can withdraw your USD balance directly into local Ghanaian bank accounts or straight to MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, or AT Money.

Keep in mind that Grey is a fintech platform backed by partner banks, so there are standard transaction fees. And receiving USD via ACH costs 0.8%, which is very reasonable for direct client payouts.”

    4. Chipper Cash

Eligible Ghanaian users can create a dedicated USD virtual account directly in the Chipper Cash app and verify their account using their Ghana Card. This account allows you to receive USD payments via ACH directly from the US.

Chipper specifically supports payouts from major platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Deel, Payoneer, Gusto, and even TikTok.So imagine working with an American client and instead of setting up a complicated workaround, you copy and paste your Chipper USD routing details, and they pay you like a local US freelancer.

Important Note before using Chipper Cash:

    • First, Chipper Cash charges a small account creation fee—currently around 60 Ghana Cedis for the USD virtual account, plus standard ACH receiving fees.
    • Second, new USD deposits often go through a review period of up to 3 days, and Chipper may ask for proof of your client relationship or invoice. So always keep your contract or client invoice handy!

    5. RedotPay.

Another Way to Get Paid in USD in Ghana without PayPal is RedotPay, but this one is different from the first four because it is more relevant if your income already comes in the form of crypto or stablecoins, such as USDT, or if you need a virtual card for international online spending.

And I mean, you can fund the account with supported digital assets and use the platform’s virtual card for things like online purchases, subscriptions, software, or advertising.

So if you’re getting paid in traditional USD from Upwork or a direct client, I wouldn’t necessarily choose RedotPay as my first option. But if your online income is already crypto-based, this is where RedotPay becomes much more interesting.

And that’s an important distinction because a crypto payment and a normal US-dollar bank transfer are not the same thing.

So which one should you actually use?

    • Well, there isn’t one winner. It depends on where your money is coming from. If you are selling products or services to international customers? Paystack.
    • If you are getting payment by marketplaces or remote-work platforms? Payoneer.
    • Working directly with clients who can pay through US banking rails?Grey.
    • Need a USD virtual account for supported US payments? Chipper Cash.
    • Already earning in crypto or stablecoins and need international spending functionality? RedotPay.

    Conclusion

These are some of the 5 Ways to Get Paid in USD in Ghana Without PayPal in 2026. But in my opinion, you don’t necessarily need one platform to do everything. You need the right payment infrastructure for the way you actually earn your money.
